This book presents a proposal for strengthening the teaching of school geometry through the integration of theoretical foundations, didactic guidelines, and learning activities designed with GeoGebra. It is based on the premise that learning geometry should not be limited to identifying shapes or mechanically applying procedures but should instead foster the development of geometric thinking, visualization, representation, mathematical reasoning, and the construction of meaningful understanding. From this perspective, the book examines the main challenges students encounter, including dependence on prototypes, confusion between geometric drawings and geometric objects, and difficulties in coordinating multiple systems of representation. Drawing on the contributions of Van Hiele, Duval, Laborde, Fischbein, and other leading scholars in mathematics education, the authors provide criteria for designing learning experiences aligned with levels of geometric reasoning and the mediating role of representations. The book also analyzes the potential and limitations of GeoGebra, emphasizing that its educational value depends on intentional teaching practices that promote exploration, conjecture formulation, validation of mathematical relationships, and mathematical argumentation. The second part translates these theoretical foundations into classroom proposals organized around lines, angles, triangles, congruence, similarity, Thales’ theorem, quadrilaterals, polygons, the circumference, and the circle. Each chapter includes didactic sequences, reflective questions, and lesson-planning guidelines, making the book a valuable resource for teachers, teacher educators, and researchers interested in promoting a more dynamic, meaningful, and evidence-based approach to geometry instruction.
