Description

This book constitutes a fundamental contribution to improving health and sustainability in cattle production in grazing systems, specifically in the Tenango de Doria region of Hidalgo. Developed within the framework of the project “Strategies for Combating Cattle Diseases in Tenango de Doria, Hidalgo” at the Autonomous University of Chapingo, this work offers a rigorous analysis and a comprehensive technical proposal to address the main health challenges affecting animal productivity and well-being. Throughout the work, knowledge on strategic mineral supplementation, sustainable management of forage resources and soils, and agroecological and zootechnical practices aimed at effective disease prevention are integrated. The guide emphasizes the implementation of health protocols adapted to local environmental and epidemiological conditions, including vaccination programs, deworming, and comprehensive ectoparasite control, all of which are crucial factors for ensuring herd health. It also addresses strategic water resource management and comprehensive pasture management, key elements for optimizing productivity in a context of adverse climatic and geographic conditions. The proposed innovative regenerative livestock approach promotes ecosystem restoration, generating a dynamic balance between production and environmental conservation. Aimed at producers, technicians, and specialists, this text is positioned as an indispensable resource for informed decision-making and the implementation of sustainable practices that ensure the profitability and resilience of cattle farming in Tenango de Doria.
